Abstract Last year, the Plasser & Theurer group celebrated its 25th year of operation. The handful of people originally employed in 1953 to produce the world's first hydraulic tamping machine have since been joined by over 3000 other Plasser employees. Over 4,500 Plasser machines are presently working in 70 countries around the world.
